Round Played: with David and Michelle Dockhorn –

On January 10th 2016 I played the Hokuala Golf club with David and Michelle Dockhorn from Parkville, Missouri.  Did you ever just walk into a good time without planning it?  I did on this day – these are fun people.

Perhaps I’m not the sharpest knife in the drawer, but it only took a couple of holes for me to realize that David was hitting the ball farther than I.  (As the years pile up that happens more frequently – the smart move for me would be to sharpen my wedge game.)

David and I had to laugh-off some challenges on this day – and Michelle sort of took advantage of it.  Below is her tee shot on the 8th hole.

It wasn’t a hole-in-one.  She ended up 20 feet short of the green.  But she simply chipped to within 6 inches and made a tap-in par.

She tried but but we were too smart for that.  David and I didn’t let her get into our heads.  We played on – real golfers do that.

The pars put David in a good mood – good enough for some pictures.  And of course I took them.

My wife, Sally, was working but she came out to watch us play the 16th hole.  Actually I think she wanted to be in one of my favorite pictures on the course.

Sally might have also wanted to laugh at me if I missed the 16th green.  I did – and she did.

Laughs from Sally and Michelle or not, David was a happy golfer after putting out.

This was a great day on the golf course.  We had to tell a lot of jokes to have more laughs than putts – but we did it.  This was golf the way it should be.

I have set a 2016 goal of playing golf with 100 people I haven’t met.  David and Michelle were numbers 6 and 7.  Want to be in that number?
