Mini Post: Deck Rebuild –

By Wayne Halm –

It is seriously cutting into my golf time, so I thought I would show you what I’m up to.

Our back deck needed replacing. So I took on the task – by myself.  (Sally contributed the idea of making it bigger.)

Yeah, it was time, and the wide un-railed steps were a disaster waiting to happen.

So the question is, “Can an old guy rebuild a deck by himself?” Follow along and find out.

I put a good bit of thought into it and began the demolition – after that I was committed.

As I took it apart the need to replace became even more apparent. Quinn, my backyard bug-eating bird buddy, stopped by to offer his approval.

Demolition took a bit of doing. Those old rotten boards were surprisingly stubborn.  But I prevailed.

I was happy about my day’s work. My dog, Sonny, wasn’t quite so sure.

Then — Come play golf with me.
