Round Played: with Palmer Hafdahl –
By Wayne Halm –
I asked Sally what she wanted for Mother’s Day – she said she wanted to play golf. (Yeah, I am one lucky guy)
May 8th 2016 was Mother’s Day so I obliged and took her to the Puakea Golf Course. This was her special day so I took her early so we could also have breakfast. I had the pancakes.
The starter grouped us with a guy named Palmer Hafdahl. When we met Sally and Palmer grinned from ear to ear. They knew each other from their years on Lanai.

Then we got out on the course and really started having fun. We hit some not so good shots, we hit some fine shots, and we told some great stories.
.
.
Sally walked the course to feed her FitBit – she got in over 21,000 steps.

If you walk down the fairways the course isn’t that long – but if you walk to each of my shots the steps add up.
.
Before I even hit this shot Sally walked back to the cart and got me a couple of more balls –but I didn’t need them.
.
I didn’t score very well on this day. But I did have my moments. Even so, it wasn’t enough for Sally.

This was another great day on the golf course – fun and comradery. It was the way golf should be. And after the round we got treated to a sight people don’t see often.
.
I have a stated 2016 goal of playing golf with 100 people that I haven’t met. Sally knew Palmer but I had never met him – so he is number 25. Want to be in that number?
Come play golf with me.

Mahalo for a great day and a wonderful reunion. Kudos to Sally for walking most all of the course and still sharing her energy in cheerleading. Great to enjoy my new friend in golf, Wayne who had more strong “moments” than this record applauds.
Aloha Palmer,
That was a great day. Sally is still giving me grief about missed putts.
A while back someone asked me, “Do you ever play golf with people you know?” Well, I think I’m going to start.
A Hui Hou,
Wayne
