Round Played: with Ron McGillem and Ken Bernhardt –

By Wayne Halm –

You don’t have to be the best to have fun –

On July 26th 2015 I played the Kauai Lagoons Golf Course with Ron McGillem and Ken Bernhardt from Newburgh, Indiana.  These are great guys.

There are golfers who post lower scores than I – Ron is one of them.  Ken and I had our moments but we just couldn’t keep up.

Ron usually had the low score on each hole.

However, not here. Here Ken had one of his moments. Yes, that is a ‘birdie smile’.

Ron posted the small numbers, but we were all having fun.  Out by the ocean we kicked the fun up a notch.

But fun or not, I insisted that we pause for a couple of pictures – something to show the wives.

With the pictures done it was back to golf.  On the 16th hole the fairway runs over a hill and it is not obvious what line to use off the tee.  However, Ken had played the hole before and had an opinion.

“Hit it that way”.

.

Ron did and had a fairly easy chip onto the green.

Net result, another routine par.

This was another great day on a great golf course.  We laughed, we had fun, and we even putted well.  It was the way golf should be.

Sometimes it is hard to ignore the scenery long enough to lineup the putts – but Ken managed.

  1. Aloha Wayne,

Looked like another fantastic day. Tourism Hawaii should be paying you the big bucks, you sure know how to make a guy want to visit. Any birdie chances for our man Wayne?

    Cheers

    • Aloha Josh,

Oh yeah, a good day on the course. My game came back a bit. Birdie chances, but none dropped. I never complain about tap-in pars though. Perhaps you can put in a good word for me at the Hawaii Visitor’s Bureau, the big bucks haven’t been coming my way either.

      A Hui Hou,
      Wayne
