Round Played: with Brad Schaffrick –

Can Police Chiefs play golf?  –

On July 9th 2015 I played the Kauai Lagoons Golf Course with Brad Schaffrick from Bristol, Connecticut.  Brad is a fun guy and an ex-police chief.  (Click on the pictures for a larger view – then use the browser ‘back’ button.)

Correction:  Brad has told me via email that he is not and nor was he ever a police chief.  l don’t know why I made a note that he was.  Sorry about that – but hey, let’s not let the facts get in the way of a good story.

Brad is also a pretty good golfer – he has a habit of playing from the short grass.

Brad on the 4th hole – right in the middle of the fairway.

Brad on the 15th hole – still in the short grass.

This was a great paring.  Brad knows as many stories as I do.  Maybe it is a trait of ex-police chiefs (are you reading this Dean Lambert?)

Brad on the 5th tee – and yes, I interrupted a story to get this picture.

We were having a great time and in a jovial mood.  At the turn I just had to take this picture to comment on the current “important” issue in the USA.

What does this have to do with the Army of Tennessee Battle Flag? Nothing. I’m just messing with people.

.

Then we got out by the ocean.  Brad kept saying, “We don’t have views like this back in Connecticut.”   I held out hope that the views would distract him from golf.

But they didn’t – he hit the fairway.

Not only fairways – he hit greens too.

And he made the putt – yes, that is a “birdie smile”.

I pushed the scenery hard, I needed help. His putts were dropping and mine weren’t.

But I needed more that spectacular scenery. Brad just kept saying, “I’m on the green.”

This was a great day on the golf course.  Great stories, great shots, and a lot of laughs.  It was the way golf should be.

Even the “Golden Bear” 18th was kind to Brad.

So, can police chiefs play golf?  This one can.

Come play golf with me.

  1. Aloha Wayne,

Playing golf with police chiefs – at least now you have someone to call when the ocean steals your golf ball! Looked like another great day, glad you guys had fun.

    Cheers
    Josh

  2. Aloha Josh,

We did have fun. But it takes more than police authority to keep my homesick golf balls out of the ocean. I think they want to swim back to China.

    A Hui Hou,
    Wayne
