Round Played: with Rick Laughbon and John Jerakis –
By Wayne Halm –
Ever wonder what airline pilots do on layovers? — Some of them play golf with me.
On June 21st 2015 I played the Kauai Lagoons Golf Course with Rick Laughbon from Salt Lake City, Utah and John Jerakis from Manassas, Virginia. They are airline pilots and were looking for something fun to do on their layover – I think they found it. (Click on the pictures for a larger view – then use the browser ‘back’ button.)

These guys were naturals at Wayne-style golf. The smiles and laughter started immediately.
.
This was great. Rick and I had similar games. And John? Well John simply didn’t putt as much as we did.
.
The guys had some sort of bet going. Rick owed a dollar for every three putt. I didn’t understand all the details but you had better believe John did.
.
The 16th hole was somehow important in their betting. The competition heated up there.

Rick near the 16th fairway. He found green paint on his ball, so the fence must have played a part in that lie.

I suppose someone won their bet – but we were playing golf on Kauai – and that is a win for everybody.
.
These guys got stories to tell during the flight back to the US mainland. And I got memories of another great day on the golf course. Win–win–win in my book. It’s the way golf should be.
Come play golf with me.

The views look beautiful from the course! Very jealous of your amazing weather too! Looks like the 3 of you had fun x
Aloha,
Golf courses are beautiful places, but Kauai Lagoons is exceptionally scenic. I strongly believe that golf should be fun. We might have more smiles and laughs in one game than the PGA has in their entire season. We do have fun. I think it would be even better if my dogs could come out with me – but no luck on that yet.
A Hui Hou,

I don’t know Rick, but I’m from Salt Lake City as well… small world! 🙂
A Hui Hou!
Aloha Krystle,
I know girl. Are you back from Thailand yet? If not, consider a stopover on Kauai. It really can be a small world.
A Hui Hou,
Wayne
Yes, sir. It was so beautiful! We are heading to Kauai and Maui this coming January… 🙂 I can’t wait to be back on my favorite little islands in the world.
