Round Played: — As A Single —

By Wayne Halm –

Not often — but it does happen –

My round on June 10th 2015 got sidetracked when the guy I was scheduled with didn’t show up.  I hung around the course for about an hour looking for a game, but only foursomes went out.

I made use of the waiting time.  Went to the range and hit a few drives, it was ‘Mat Day” and I will not hit irons off the mats.  Chipped a while, this was good because I started way too strong.  And I rolled a lot of 6 foot putts, but that got depressing – so I went out as a single.

Playing as a single never lasts long for me.  I am a ‘social golfer’ and a fun round requires a ball, some clubs, a course – and PEOPLE.  For three holes I watched the foursome in front laugh and have a good time.  Good for them!  But even at par, par, bogie, I was not having fun.  On the fourth fairway I picked up my ball and quit.

No, this day did not work out for me – it happens.  But I’ve been asked to play with some folks tomorrow and things are looking up.

Come play golf with me.

  1. Aloha Wayne,

Sorry to hear your golf plans went south. You made the best of your waiting time and got some short game practice in, which is always good. I have tried a couple times to play alone and it is tough, so I understand. I like the company of others when I play.

    Cheers
    Josh

    • Aloha Josh,

Thank you, I appreciate your sympathy. Don’t worry, there will be other rounds. Saturday at 8:45 with some folks from Seattle is the next.

For me it is always a toss up between practicing the short game and flirting with the waitress in the restaurant. Neither seems to get me anywhere.

      A Hui Hou,
      Wayne

  2. With as much golf as you play Wayne. Gotta ask you if you could write reviews for Greenskeeper.org and link them back to you 😀 LOL. Love the work; keep them coming!
