Round Played: with Kerry Karlson and Brian Wunderman –

The smiling faces of happy golfers –
On February 13th 2015 I played the Kauai Lagoons course with Kerry Karlson from Krajnejnick, Washington and with Brian Wunderman from Los Angeles, California. (Click on the pictures for a larger view – then use the browser ‘back’ button.)
Before the round we did not know each other – but we do now. The ‘Golf Gods’ smiled on me that day. I still hit my share of truly awful shots, but I had these two great guys to laugh with me.
We did play golf and we did keep score. However, as we progressed around the course it was the fun, the laughter, and the smiles that I remember.
On the 16th tee by the ocean I made them both pose for the ‘lighthouse shot’. They even seemed to enjoy that.
Then we played 16. It is an interesting hole, a 285 yard (from the white tees) par 4. The fairway runs out over a rise then downhill to the green. The problem is players can’t see the green from the tee box.
The talking GPS machine advised us that the smart tee shot was 180 to 200 yards down the right side of the fairway – and then chip onto the green. But we were into FUN, not smarts – so we hit drivers.
There is not much rhyme or reason to the drive. Just hit the ball down the right side of the fairway and take what you get – we didn’t get much. We couldn’t find Brian or Kerry’s drives, and mine was in the bunker behind the green.
This is a deep and difficult bunker. My shot came out, landed in the middle of the green, and rolled slowly off the cliff. I dropped in front of the green – and drained a 40 footer. No rhyme or reason what-so-ever – just fun. We celebrated with another picture
Honestly, I believe these guys and I would have had fun even sitting shoulder to shoulder in the back of an aeroplane – but I’m going to give GOLF credit. This round was fun. It was the way golf should be.
Come play golf with me.
