Round Played: with Julius Debro –

By Wayne Halm –

I had a discouraging start – But it got better – much better.

On December 3rd 2014 I played the Kauai Lagoons course with Julius Debro from Seattle, Washington.  The folks I was originally scheduled to play with let the weather scare them away – then along came Julius. (Note: click on any picture and it will display larger, then click on the browser “back button” to return.)

My life just gets better - I was considering going back home rather than playing alone.

The weather was less than perfect.  No snow, but overcast, a damp wind, and a couple of showers – it was a certified bad hair day.

But my hair wasn't really a problem - I couldn't see it and Julius didn't laugh too much.

Still, we were two guys on a Hawaiian golf course.  We simply considered the clouds to be natural sun-screen.  You bet we had fun – we just smiled and played through it.

Julius - happy to be on the 5th hole.

Julius – on the 5th hole.

Julius - still happy on the 11th hole.

Julius – still smiling on the 11th hole.

At the sight of the ocean our smiles grew even bigger.  A Large easterly swell was rolling in.  We realized this was a better day to be golfing than sailing.

Even facing this shot, Julius preferred being on the golf course to being on a boat.

And the shot worked out well for him.

On the 16th hole we interrupted our good times to take pictures.  Pictures are almost required if you are golfing with me.

Well, okay, maybe picture taking in this scenery is sort of fun too.

Julius approached the 16th green carefully.

He approached carefully for good reason - the angry ocean.

However, on the Kalapaki Bay side of the green the surfers were out.

This was a fun day on the golf course.  A sub-par round might still be out of reach.  But this day proved once again, if golfers set out to have fun – they will.  It’s the way golf should be.

Come play golf with me.
