Round Played: with Dean and Deirdre Machin –
By Wayne Halm –
There were better days – but it was the day we had – so we went out anyway.
On October 31st 2014 I played the Kauai Lagoons course with Dean and Deirdre Machin from Newport Beach, California. Rain showers and 40mph wind gusts were not going to stop us from having fun.
We played and talked story – then sheltered under the trees and talked more story during the showers.

Dean and Deirdre on the 5th Tee – Deirdre and I just had to accept a bad hair day – Dean, well he had an appropriate hair cut.
Deirdre was a sport. She consented to pose with the now ragged Octopus plant.

Deirdre and the Octopus plant – I think it is time to retire the Octopus plant – Perhaps I’ll do a memorial post to commemorate it’s former glory.
Over by the ocean the weather moderated (funny how good things seem to happen by the ocean). The sun and the smiles came out.
We took advantage of the improved weather and the stunning scenery to take pictures. I’m told that a picture is worth a thousand words – wouldn’t you rather look at the pictures below than read four thousand more words?

Dean and Deirdre on the 16th Green – That is Kalapaki Beach and the Marriott Hotel in the background.
In spite of the challenges we had a fun round- and finished contented and happy golfers.
This round proved once again – golfers determined to have fun – will have fun.
Come play golf with me.
