Round Played: with Joe and Linda Deacon –

By Wayne Halm –

Oh yes – there was a birdie in our group – the guy in the yellow shirt made it.

On October 15th 2014 I played the Kauai Lagoons course with Joe and Linda Deacon from Meadow Vista, California.

I could not find it on the calender,  but Oct 15th must be the “Official Putter Holiday”.  Because none of our putters worked that day.

Close but no Cigar - This was the common result for us

However, we were not about to let lazy putters get in the way of our primary objective – having FUN.  Linda hesitated but consented to pose in front of the Octopus plant.

Linda thought this looked more like a spider - but she bravely stood with her back to it anyway.

As expected by the time we got down to the ocean the putter problems just didn’t matter – the views took over.

Ocean equals Smiles - it just works that way.

This was before Joe saw his next shot - he was still smiling

The 14th tee is always emotional – taking a deep breath, saying good-bye to your golf ball, and all that.

Linda took all she could but still didn't feel good about this shot.

But when it works, it works – and the smiles quickly return.

A par on 14 really is a good feeling.

Players get used to the ocean side play – but not to the views.  The views are always a distraction.

With two ocean holes behind them confidence was returning on the 16th tee.

The signature 16th hole can offer some challenges – I got caught up in them – but Linda and Joe simply rose to the occasion.

Linda got this ball up onto the green - near the pin - and without falling into the sand.

Let me introduce - BIRDIE MAN - yeah, it's alright to smile Joe

This was a good day on the course – Joe posted a good score – Linda made some incredible shots – and me?  Well, I got plenty of exercise, fresh air, and sunshine.  Three happy golfers walked off the 18th green.  Golf the way it should be.

Come play golf with me.
