Round Played: with David and Janice Bostock –
By Wayne Halm –
Big waves and sandy greens – that was the plus and minus of this round.
On August 29th 2014 I played the Ocean nine at Kauai Lagoons with David and Janice Bostock of Sydney, Australia. We knew that the course had not recovered from the recent aeration, but we decided that the waves outweighed the sand.
Besides the sand was only on the greens, there was still lots of golf course to play.
Short putts were common. I called David “Alice” and he suggested that I should have worn my “lucky skirt”. We were having a good time – we adjusted – then we came to the ocean.
The ocean holes on the Kauai Lagoons course normally have a huge “WOW factor”. On this day the huge surf pushed “WOW” up off the charts.
On the 16th green we really didn’t mind the sand. The more putts we had the longer we could admire the view.
The 18th hole, called The Golden Bear, charged us a “ball toll” – but we didn’t let that get in the way of a fun round.
This was quite simply a fun way to spend an afternoon. Golfing on Kauai – it doesn’t get much better than that.
Come play golf with me.
