Round Played: with Tom Wennstrom and John Schieber –

Have you ever really enjoyed a five hour round? If not, you should call these guys.
On August 15th 2014 I played the Kauai Lagoons course with Tom Wennstrom from The Villages, Florida and John Schieber from Valley Springs, California. We had an awkward situation and turned it to our advantage.

For five holes we were behind a threesome of beginners. They seemed to be trying hard – but were going nowhere fast.
With time on our hands we started talking – telling stories. Golf stories, work stories, pet stories, war stories, wife stories – we ran the gamut. Yes, we were three guys having a good time.

On the sixth hole the Marshal waved us through the threesome. We put our heads down and got a few holes ahead. Then we dropped back into story mode. We finished the round in just over five hours – laughing the whole way. This was a fun round.

I understand there are golfers who don’t think talking and getting to know people is much fun — John, Tom, and I are not among them.
