Round Played: with Dr Kent Kiehl –
By Wayne Halm –

On July 24th, 2014 I played the Kauai Lagoons course with Dr Kent Kiehl of Albuquerque, New Mexico. And no, this was not another case of me talking my doctors to play golf in lieu of waiting for an appointment. This was a for-real golf game – but we both agreed right away that “fun” was the real goal – and we reached our goal.

Partly cloudy skies, mid 80s, a moderate trade winds – another perfect day to be golfing on Kauai.

My thumb had healed and I resumed my normal grip. This helped but once again I was the shortest off the tee. I wasn’t embarrassed by me drives, but Kent simply crushes the ball. On the plus side, the long cart rides up to his ball gave us more time to talk – Kent is an interesting guy.

Not only can Kent hit the ball a long way – he wrote a book. Not a golf book, something more serious. Click on the cover image below to check it out on Amazon.

But back to his long drives. In the 316 yard par four 12th hole Kent did not drive the green – he drove over the green! Check out the picture below.

Kauai Lagoons Associate Ro Louis was kind enough to take some pictures for us.

I finished the round exactly the bogie golfer I claim to be – Kent was right there with me – and two happy golfers walked off the 18th green.

Come play golf with me.
