Round Played: with John Ebersberger –
by Wayne Halm –
On May 4th, 2014 I played the Kauai Lagoons course with John Ebersberger of Upland, California. This was a good day for golf on Kauai – the course was dry and in good shape; a high overcast muted the Hawaiian Sun; and the trade winds were light, cooling but not distracting.
John and I took advantage of the ideal conditions and enjoyed out time on the course. The Kiele course at Kauai Lagoons is tough (76.1/130 from the white tees), but John did himself proud – he played well.
I had an exceptional round and tied my all time low score on Kiele. Okay, the par three 17th with its island style green kicked my butt. I’m scared of that hole, it has my number. Suddenly my wedge would not fly 135 yards. I fear falling short into the water and over swing – it’s not a good idea. Still, frequently I do it.
However, the next hole more than made up for my problems on 17. This may only impress people who have already played the course, but I birdied the 18th hole! Yes, I was standing tall and strutted off that green.
This was a great day, we scored well, and had more laughs than missed putts. There were smiling faces all the way around.
Come play golf with me.
